Barbara Deutsch, FASLA, has been the CEO of the Landscape Architecture Foundation since 2009.

She had ten years of award-winning marketing experience from IBM before becoming a landscape architect which continues to inform her work today. Interested in designing communities that are better for people and better for the planet, Barbara practiced in Hong Kong before joining the environmental nonprofit sector in Washington, DC for a local tree advocacy organization and then Bioregional’s One Planet Communities. At LAF, Barbara leads initiatives to increase the influence, impact and diversity of landscape architects to create a healthy, equitable, sustainable and beautiful planet for all living species.

Barbara earned a BS in commerce from the University of Virginia and a master’s in landscape architecture from the University of Washington.
