I retired as the Director of the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in 2011. During my 40-year career, mostly in public sector positions in addition to being Aquarium Director, I was the State’s coastal management director, assistant director of the NC Soil and Water Conservation Division, and ran the Governor’s Outer Continental Shelf office overseeing offshore oil and gas leasing activities and proposed exploration of private companies. Upon receiving my law license in 1983, I worked awhile with the Nature Conservancy.  In retirement, my husband and I are avid scuba divers, downhill skiers, and adventure travelers.
