Dorji Yangki is an architect from Bhutan.
She studied Architecture in Deakin University Australia and has a Master’s degree from the University of York, UK. She was Loeb fellow at Harvard University from 2008 to 2009. She also studied in Japan, Norway and the Netherlands.
Dorji worked for over 15 years as the Chief Architect in the Ministry for the Home Affairs in Bhutan. She is the first elected female President of the Bhutan Institute of Architects and the first female Chair of SAARCH (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects).
She has worked on numerous projects including the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the designs of the National Archives, the National Museum, and the Royal Academy of Performing Arts of Bhutan. Dorji also worked to publish the first Bhutan Green Building Guidelines, the Bhutanese Architecture Guidelines and the first Guidelines for the Conservation of Heritage sites in Bhutan.
Dorji is currently the only female Principal Architect of a firm in Bhutan. She is working on numerous projects ranging from high-end resorts, offices, museums, restaurants, to private family homes.
