Edward Frenette dedicated his professional life to facilitating design excellence within corporate organizational structures as director of design in large firms.

The thesis he developed in his Loeb year, “The Large Firm Artistically Considered,” was published by Architecture BostonArchitecture Minnesota, and Northwest Architecture magazines. His environmental research led to The Form of Energy and the Energy of Form (Pergamon Press) and a Sustainability Design manual for the federal government. Most recently he authored “Quality Management during Schematic Design” published in the current Architectural Handbook of Professional Practice, Fifteenth Edition. His design work has received numerous awards from the AIA, where he has served as chairman of design committees in Minneapolis, Boston, and Providence chapters. Now retired, Frenette continues writing about the product, process, and personalities producing design excellence within corporate structures in “Director, Directing and Directed Design.”
