Elizabeth Courtney is a grandmother, an environmentalist, a darned good chef and a gardener. She is an advocate, a poet, a memoirist, a landscape architect and co-author of Greening Vermont, The Search for a Sustainable State. She serves at the pleasure of the Governor on the Vermont Natural Resources Board and is a member of the Governor’s Council of Environmental and Energy Advisors. She paints watercolors of skies and pears, of ponds and apples. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she served on and then chaired the Green Mountain State’s unique land use appeals court
