After George McClure–known as Bert–completed his BArch at the University of Virginia and Architectural Association School program in 1968, he joined Colin Buchanan and Partners and later worked at CETE in Aix en Provence, where his work integrated traffic, urban planning, and environmental impact studies. After his Loeb year in 1978, McClure enlarged the scope of the quality of life dimension for sensitive sites in France, the Middle East, China and Morocco. His non-planning activities have included directing the Nîmes Planning Agency, participating in the EDF evaluation of electrically powered vehicles’ role for the city of the future, and directing the Masters degree program in Urban Planning at the French Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussées. McClure is co-author of “Paris Walking Guide” for Le Monde newspaper and co-author of “Le Corbusier walking guide to buildings open to the public” for the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He is a journalist and translator.
