James Batchelor, president and CEO of Arrowstreet, has been responsible for award winning architectural, planning, and research projects incorporating sustainable design and energy conservation. These include the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter, which earned a first-in-Boston Platinum Level LEED rating from the US Green Building Council and the Boston Society of Architects/New York AIA Honor Award for Sustainable Design, as well as other design awards.

Other notable projects include work with the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems and the Lebanon Coop Food Store, which combines reused elements and locally procured materials. He has extensive experience with downtown development and also has completed multiple projects for QROE Farms, an organization dedicated to responsible, low impact development and the preservation of farmland and open space.

Batchelor was president of the Boston Society of Architects in 2009 and chair of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association Conference in 2007 and is also chairman of the Brookline Preservation Commission. He has taught at the MIT Center for Real Estate. He has master’s degrees in both architecture and city planning from MIT.
