Jim Grauley serves as president, chief operating officer and principal of the Columbia group of companies, managing operations of development, finance, asset management and corporate business operations.

Since joining Columbia in 2008, Jim has led the successful development of over 2,000 housing units and led a strong team to build award winning projects and strong development pipeline, while spearheading the company’s continuing leadership in sustainable development, including numerous LEED and EarthCraft certified projects and neighborhoods.

Jim Grauley brings over 20 years of experience in successful urban development or redevelopment, through affordable, mixed-income and market rate housing that has created or redeveloped over 15,000 housing units of a variety of types in US cities, primarily in the southeast. His particular focus has been on larger scale projects that have revitalized urban neighborhoods, and that work has recognized with the highest industry awards, including ULI Award of Excellence, NAHB Pillars of the Industry, and Edson Awards of Excellence.

Prior to joining Columbia, Jim served as President of Banc of America Community Development Corporation in Atlanta.  He earned undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Covenant College in addition to a MBA in real estate and finance from UNC-Chapel Hill.
