Jeremiah Ellison is the Ward 5 City Councilmember in Minneapolis, representing the city’s Northside.

Grounded in his experience as an artist, activist, and organizer, Jeremiah has earned a reputation as a creative and unflinching problem solver in local government. His Renter First Policy reimagined how Minneapolis addresses tenant protections, creating a framework to prevent displacement and prioritize renter’s rights. Before his time in office, Jeremiah worked as a teaching artist at Juxtaposition Arts, a youth counselor at Avenues for Homeless Youth, and a Creative CityMaking artist with Intermedia Arts. Known for blending creativity with pragmatism, he consistently challenges the status quo to craft solutions that honor community voices while addressing complex realities.
