Patricia Leigh Brown writes for the Culture section of the New York Times, where she was a staff writer for the Home section for many years.

She has a special interest in the cultural landscape and immigrant, refugee and indigenous communities, from California to the Arctic Circle. She has taught journalistic writing at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and at Yale.
