Peter J. Park is a city planner and educator, internationally recognized for leading innovation in transportation and land use planning, especially in the areas of urban highway removal, transit-oriented development, and zoning code reform.
As planning director in Milwaukee and Denver, he oversaw departmental reorganizations that increased city planning capacities and resulted in higher quality development. His integrated approach to comprehensive planning, urban design, and development review has created clear visions for sustainable urban development, places of high quality design, and streamlined permitting systems. Park teaches at the University of Colorado at Denver. Previously, he taught at the Harvard GSD and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he coordinated the Joint Master of Architecture/Master of Urban Planning program. The work produced in his urban design studios has significantly influenced real world planning and development outcomes, such as the removal of the Park East Freeway in Milwaukee and adoption of the Denver Zoning Code.
