Sherry Wagner grew up in Arkansas and attended college at Baylor and the University of Iowa. There she began writing a novel, the first of her publications, which included children’s books, a play, magazine articles, and short stories. However, in 1966, while waiting for her novel to be published, she took a job on the planning staff for a world’s fair in San Antonio, Texas. That experience changed her life, channeling her career into two more strands: urban planning and design and museum exhibitions and programming. Her unorthodox work life has led her to consulting with more than 45 museums as well as with development projects in cities and communities around the nation and in other countries. The latest project is the redevelopment of the Pearl, an old brewery complex in San Antonio. Also, that early novel, Hannah Jackson, is being republished this fall.
