Haig has practiced internationally in the disciplines of architecture, exhibit, graphic, interior, and product design as consultant, educator and freelance designer since 1967. He has devoted a significant portion of his life to Design education and professional practice in the US and abroad. He has devoted over 25 years to graduate education in both the Master’s and recently the PhD in Design programs at the College of Design at North Carolina State University. One of the courses he cofounded with colleagues in Business Management and Engineering was cited by Forbes Magazine (2010), as “one of the top-ten innovative business courses in the United States.” This course has been running for 18 years and now has faculty and graduate students from Industrial Design, MBAs in Marketing / Innovation Management and Engineering (Industrial & Systems, Electrical and Computer, Bio-Medical). It is a cross-functional, team-based project course, which designs and develops products for industrial as well as human and animal medical applications. Haig has also held senior academic positions at The Ohio State University, Ball State University, Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem.

His own design background has included positions as VP and Design Director for Dave Ellies Industrial Design, Designet, Nexus America (Fitch), Retail Planning Associates and consulting projects for: Citibank, Federal Express, Amoco, Barclays Bank, Midway Airlines, SimuFlite, Abbott Laboratories, GTE, Porsche Cars NA, Bank of America, Ross Labs, Storehouse, United States Information Agency, Royal Trust Canada, IBM, Canadair, AdTranz / DaimlerChrysler, Dallas Arts District, The Israel Museum and many others. Haig has been a guest lecturer at: Harvard, OSU, Cincinnati, RISD, UManitoba, SIU, Cornell, UTexas-Arlington, Ball State, MCAD, and Kingston Polytechnic.
