Kathleen Coakley Barrie has a consulting firm with her husband Dennis, Barrie Projects, based in Cleveland, which specializes in developing new museums and new exhibitions, and cultural planning.

Past big projects are the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC and The Mob Museum: National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement in Las Vegas, as well as visioning for Uptown, a new mixed-use neighborhood in Cleveland’s cultural district –and a Rudy Bruner finalist for 2015. Currently on the drawing boards are the US Olympic Museum in Colorado Springs—with Gallagher & Associates and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and art master planning for Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
