Lonni Tanner
As chief of Civic Innovation at NYC Probation, Lonni Tanner is reinventing the places that support at-risk New Yorkers. Tanner was chief change officer at NYC Department of Design and Construction and led the See ChangeNYC initiative; for 11 years she was director of Special Projects for the Robin Hood Foundation. She convinced award-winning architects to design 31 libraries in public elementary schools. She reimagined the design of soup kitchens, science labs, childcare centers, probation centers, foster care centers, and playgrounds and found innovative ways to affordably furnish apartments for formerly homeless families. Tanner designed a successful summer camp for struggling readers and a jobs program for struggling teens and was on the launch team of City Year. She has won a Lyndhurst Prize, an AIANY Special Citation, an AIA Honor for Collaborative Achievement, and was selected for Cooper Hewitt exhibit By the People: Designing A Better America.
