Patricia Zingsheim
A year ago Patricia Zingsheim embarked on a new endeavor in architecture, ecology and renewable energy; relocating from intense urbanity in Downtown DC to an acreage near Spring Green, Wisconsin, in the distinct Driftless Area environment.
I am revitalizing a Prairie-Style/Mid-Century architectural gem, restoring native prairie, and researching geo-thermal and solar energy solutions; following my passion for environmental issues and seeking sustainable solutions as part of the American prairie landscape and the community of Spring Green.
Prior to this I worked in the DC Office of Planning for 15 years as Associate Director of Design. I focused on citywide urban design systems, high impact local and federal projects and design plans, and neighborhood livability projects. The most rewarding projects were those where the creativity and design quality was significantly increased and durability was achieved for Washington DC as a distinct city and as a community. Throughout my life I worked for both local governments and private consulting firms and have undertaken projects in both small and large communities; including Washington DC, Boston, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Wellesley, and Providence. I taught as adjunct at Iowa State University, Department of Architecture and Harvard University, Department of Planning and Urban Design.
