Peter serves as managing director of The Lyme Timber Company, a specialized timberland investment firm with an extensive track record in the conservation of working forests and realized returns for investors.  Over 25+ years, the firm has invested in and conserved more than one million acres in twelve states, plus Canada.

Peter also directs the firm’s advisory work, which has helped landowners conserve more that 1.1 million acres of ranch land, forest land, and key open space treasures in the U.S. and Canada.  He has advised more than a dozen private grant-making foundations in the design of land conservation grant strategies and the creation and administration of Program Related Investments.

Peter is a current Board member of the National Alliance of Forestland Owners and a former board member of the Land Trust Alliance, Hubbard Brook Research Foundation, the Forest History Society, and Appalachian Mountain Club.  Peter also serves on the investment advisory board of the Rose Smart Growth Fund and Spring Point Partners.  He is the cofounder of the Conservation Finance Network and the International Land Conservation Network.  Peter was awarded the Kingsbury Browne Fellowship/Award by the Land Trust Alliance and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in 2012.
